Why we need a corrugated steel pipe which is combined by strcuture plates
As we know, the culvert pipe has a big volume and strong, then it can meet the function of cuvert. But for transportation, it is a problem, one truck only can take few pieces of culvert, if shipping by container, it even can not load in container. Whatever in china marekt or other country market, the transportaton cost is a big part for the budget when we design the culvert.
How to solve this problem, how to save the cost of delivery and make sure the culvert strength? The corrugated steel pipe culvert which is combinded by multi structure plate is a good solution for this problem.
Big shipping cost for corrugated steel culvert
Corrugated steel pipe culvert has many types, the most popular type is multiplate assembled type. Before the assembled type corrugated steel culvert, we only have integral corrugated steel culvert pipe, it is rolled by corrugated steel plate, and we roll the arc as per the design of the culvert, for example, if we need the culvert in diameter 2m, then we produce a corrugated steel plate and rolling it to be in diameter 2m, then welding the seam. One section of round shape culvert is finished. We produce the round shape section one by one, and welding flange on the end of the round section, each section can be connected by the flange. We know, the main application of the corrugated steel pipe is the culvert for highway. The culvert diameter is big, most is from 2-6m, so when we ship the culvert, it need big space and it can not load in container. It need to pay big cost for transportation, for local market, it is acceptable, but for exporting, the freight is too high for shipping the steel culvert. So we have to find a way to solve the problem of its big shipping cost.
Solution of big shipping cost for corrugated steel culvert
After research and test, the new type of corrugated steel culvert is come out, it is the assembled type of corrugated steel culvert. It is assembled by multi pieces of corrugated steel structure plate.
If we want to produce the culvert in diameter 2m, we can design one circle is combined by 3 or 4 corrugated steel structure plate. Normally, all structure plates are in same design, then it will be simple to assemble. If in 3 plates design, then we know the diameter 2m circle perimeter is 6.28m, then each structure plate length should be 6.28m is divided by 3, its arc length should be 2.09m. and the structure plates effective length normally from 1m-1.5m, so each plate is in small size. We only need to pile up the structure plates together, and put them in container easily.
The assembled type corrugated steel culvert can meet strength request of difference projections.
Some people consider if its strength is enough to meet the design. So many years, we had produced large quantity of assembled type steel culvert, the maximum span is 20m, the minimum diameter is 500mm, all of them can meet the design strength of the projection. Even 40m high filling back projection and big live load projections in mining projection, they are all no problem.
