Corrugated steel culvert is made by steel plate, we can produce difference profile shape of corrugated steel culvert. Whatever the profile shape has one or more radius, we can produce it as per the drawing.
Corrugated steel culvert has many profile shapes for selection
When we heard about the corrugated steel pipe culvert, most of us will consider, it should be in round shape, because the pipe is round shape. In fact, there are many shape of corrugated steel culvert. We can produce round shape, high arch, low arch, horseshoe shape, pair shape, oval shape etc.
Round shape
This is the most simple shape of corrugated steel culvert, when we make design, we just design all structure in same specifications, no need mark on each plate. And when the structure arrive to the job site, just assemble is OK, no need find which plate should be connect which one.
Arch shape
We call this design opened structure, because the bottom of this structure is not closed. Some time it can be half round arch, t is easy to understand the shape, it only has one radius; some time it is a high arch, it means the rise is bigger than span, it has more radius. Same, low arch also has more radius, but is span is bigger than rise.
Horseshoe shape
This structure and pair shape, oval shape are all closed structure. All of them have more radius, and when we produce them, we have to mark on each plate, then when we assemble them, we know which plate should connect which one. If a wrong connection, the structure can not be assembled.
Why we have so many profile shape of corrugated steel culvert
Difference shape of corrugated steel culvert is not for its pretty appearance, it because difference construction conditions. Round shape is the most simple shape, it is simple to produce, simple to assemble, simple to shipping. As a manufacture, we prefer to produce round shape. But when we meet some project need big span, then arch will be a good choice, because if big span, round shape need more material than arch shape. For saving material and cost, we design it as arch shape. Also some time, the filling back height is limited, it can not meet the round shape request, but need enough space for machine or other vehicles, then we choose horseshoe shape, it can have more space for passing, but its height is lower than round shape, then meet the request of filling back. Just difference shape is designed as per difference conditions, we have to consider filling back height, live load, dead load, passing space, producing plan and many other factors.
