Classification of corrugated steel arch

We call all corrugated steel culvert which are not in round shape as arch. so it has many difference profile section shapes. It mainly classified in two types, closed structure and non closed structure

Non closed structure corrugated steel arch

Firstly, we talk about the non closed structure, it means the structure section profile is not a closed shape. This type arches have anchor for fix the arch on the basement because its non closed structure design. Our anchor adopt angle steel and anchor bolts.

• Half circle arch
  This is easy to understand, it is half of round shape. For example, if the arch span is 6000mm, then its rise is 3000mm, this arch only have one radius, easy to calculate the weight and price, and easy to produce.
• Low arch
  Low arch means the maximum span of the arch is bigger than the maximum rise of the arch, it has more radius normally, and maybe some small radius. When we make this design, we have to consider what is the minimum radius we can produce, if the designed radius is smaller than our minimum radius, then we can not produce it.
• High arch
  It means the rise of the arch is bigger than the span of the arch, sure, it is also with more radius, we make sure the shape by the radius and angles, after confirm these details, we can get exact shape of the arch and start to produce.

Closed structure corrugated steel arch

This means the arch section profile is a closed shape, it does not need anchor to fix arch on the basement, just put the arch on the basement and filling back is OK. This type of arch has more radius, so if we want to design and produce this arch, we have to confirm its shape firstly. We call this type of arch corrugated steel pipe arch. It has difference shape as below:

• Horseshoe shape pipe arch
  This is the most popular shape for the corrugated steel pipe arch. Its span is bigger than the rise of arch. Lower than round shape, but with bigger flow than round shape.
• Pear shape pipe arch
  This pipe arch is like a high arch, its span is bigger than the rise of the pipe arch, normally for high filling back projection, it will have a little bigger bearing ability.
• Ellipse shape pipe arch
  This is not been adopted often, but for some special design, it is a good choice, normally, it is vertical ellipse design.
