Low requirement for foundation strength
The biggest characteristic of steel corrugated pipes is their strong deformation ability, and they have relatively low requirements for both foundation bearing capacity and flatness. They can be applied to special foundation structures such as soft soil and expansive soil;
Convenient transportation
In terms of weight, compared to cement pipes of the same caliber, steel corrugated pipes are only 1/10 in total, and at most 1/5. Even if the location is narrow and lacks any transportation equipment, they can still be transported manually.
Easy construction and short construction period
The installation of steel corrugated pipes is generally carried out on site, mainly connected by bolts, and this work can be completed with simple tools. It is basically manually installed without the need for any important large equipment. Moreover, the construction period is often not too long. At the same time, civil engineering and profile installation can be separated and then assembled as a whole.
In addition, compared to reinforced concrete culverts, the construction period of steel corrugated pipe culverts is one month shorter.
Installation of corrugated pipe culverts on site
Before installing the pipe body, the axis of the pipe culvert and the position of the inlet and outlet should be determined. When assembling, the installation position of the end plate and the middle plate should also be comprehensively considered. The installation of the pipe culvert must be strictly carried out according to the correct axis and the slope shown on the drawing.
The installation of the pipe body needs to be tightly adhered to the gravel cushion layer to ensure that the stress on the pipe culvert is relatively uniform. The slope of the foundation top surface is basically the same as the design slope, and at the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the pre arch of the pipe body along the transverse direction is 0.5% to 1% of the length of the pipe section. This way, it can ensure that there is no depression or reverse slope in the middle of the pipeline.
The pipe body mainly utilizes Q235 hot-rolled steel plate, which is connected in several pieces and then longitudinally connected after being formed as a whole. Install symmetrically from the center to both ends. When installing, first install the film and then splice it upwards. Perform roundness calibration once every 5m of installation. If there is a deviation, measures should be taken to correct it.
For the installation of pipe joints, construction scaffolding should be set up inside and outside to facilitate construction.
Bottom plate: Based on the central axis and the center point benchmark, position the first corrugated plate and extend it to both sides from this starting point until the two ends. The circumferential overlap length is 50mm, and the second plate is stacked on top of the first plate (overlap part), aligning the connection holes. The threaded part should be coated with lubricating oil, and a washer should be inserted into the hole from inside out. The opposite side should be fitted with a washer and the nut should be tightened.
Ring: Install in order from bottom to top. The axial overlap width is 120mm, and the upper plate of the overlap part covers the lower plate in a stepped circumferential connection.
When assembling corrugated pipes, the cross-sectional shape of the circumference should be measured. If it can meet the standard, assembly can continue. Otherwise, measures should be taken to adjust it. When assembling in the circumferential direction until the circular ring is closed, the cross-sectional shape is measured, mainly by fixing it with positioning rods, adjusting the pre tightening bolts, and assembling the first corrugated pipe at the top.
The main reason for the success of culverts in engineering practice is that the construction period of steel corrugated pipe culverts is not long, and the construction cost is low, the effect is good, and they can play an important role in mountain road construction, with a bright future.
