Classification of Corrugated Steel Culvert Pipe

The corrugated steel culvert mainly can be classified in 4 types, nestable corrugated steel culvert pipe, multiplate corrugated steel culvert pipe, tunnel liner, helical corrugated steel culvert pipe, Here, we will introduce each type as below:

• Nestable corrugated metal culvert pipe

  This corrugated culvert pipe is assembled by two structure plate each ring. Its effective length has 1360mm (20 waves) and 1020mm (15 waves). its diameter is from 600mm to 1500mm, and the corrugation size is 68X13mm. This is mainly applicated in highway construction to be a culvert under the road. It has two types.

  

  One type is bolted corrugated steel culvert pipe.

  

  The other type is flanged corrugated steel culvert pipe.

• Multiplate corrugated steel culvert pipe

  This type of corrugated steel culvert pipe is popular in world, and have lots of application. It includes difference corrugation size as 150X50mm, 200X55mm, 230X64mm, 381X140mm. It is also assembled by structure plates, and it can be round shape, arch, hoseshoe shape, pear shape,etc, and its maximum span we had done was 20m. its big size can meet application of bridge, tunnel, underpass way, etc.

  

• Tunnel liner

  The tunnel liner is only adopted in South America. Its advantage is when we have a projection, we do not need to excavate. Just assembled inside of the older tunnel or culvert. It is assembled by corrugated steel plates also, and each plate is small size and light weight, it can be carried by people, then when assemble it, no need machines. Its corrugation size is 178X45mm and effective length is 460mm. Normally it is applicated in vertical well, old culvert reinforcement.

  

• Helical corrugated steel culvert pipe

  This is an integral structure pipe, it can not be disassembled, so it has advantage for fast producing, but it is not economic for transport. For exporting, we do not consider this type of corrugated steel culvert pipe. Its diameter is from 300mm to 3500mm, corrugation size including 68X13mm, 75X25mm and 125X25mm.
